Lemonade Stand

For the last few years the fourth grade has put on a lemonade stand at the end of school to raise money for a charity. This goes right along with our economics objectives in social studies.

From year to year which have changed up some of the things included in the unit.

Some years we have had kids apply for specific jobs like advertising, management, set-up/clean-up. etc while other years we have let everyone get involved in each aspect. To promote the sale to the whole school we post signs around the building, advertise on the morning announcements as well send students to classrooms to talk it up.

This year the two social studies teachers even helped all the kids tie dye T shirts (pink and yellow since we serve both colors) and then ironed on logos. They were so stinkin' cute!

Each year we let the kids suggest different charity options and then the students vote for the winner. For the last two years it has been our local humane society. My principal recently adopted a dog from the humane society so she brought him out for the day.

This year we raised $450! I just dropped off the check today :-)

We are really proud of how the kids jump on this project every year and do a great job.
