Made It Monday - Back at School

I'm joining Tara for 

I had intended on getting this out earlier but being back at school out a dent in the free time :-)

We had a half day training and then I took advantage on some quiet time in my room to get most if it finished up except for two bulletin boards.

Here are the few things I did get done.

This is a large banner that will hang between the two classrooms in our team. I still have to create all the clear labels with our new students so we can stick them all over.  The other team in our grade made a display with bulletin board paper and letters to go between their doors. Unfortunately it didn't hold so I made an alternative for them but I want to make sure they like it before I print the 15 pages.

I made the book bin labels for our lakeshore boxes. They have each kids name as well as the proper gender diver. The kids can color them if they want to personalize it a bit.

I printed a bunch of bag toppers that I created last year. We will stuff snack sized baggies with goldfish crackers and Swedish fish candies.

These for a special ed teacher on our hall that needed something in primary colors to label her word wall. I used a couple of patterns that fit the bill. I let her cut them out.

My favorite Made It this week is actually something that I can't share yet. It is on its way in the mail to CT  as part of the Back to School Blogger Exchange.  I don't want to ruin the surprise so I will come back and add a picture later.

I probably won't get a chance to go check out everyone else's posts for a couple of days but that won't stop the rest of you that are still on break. Hurry over to Fourth Grade Frolics. 

Monday Made It from Texas

I'm here in Texas visiting family but I didn't want to miss out on Tara's fun Monday tradition.

Before heading out of town I made a few things last week.

After seeing a couple of other book return buckets and baskets, I decided to create my own. I was given this container by a parent (as a part of a great margarita beach themed basket). I used my cameo to cut out the words and then added some stickers to go with the ocean theme.

I created this one after I was inspired by Tasha at A Tender Teacher for Special Needs a couple of weeks ago. This is a lanyard for my ID and keys. I picked up the beads on sale at Hobby Lobby and Michaels.

After pinning a writing conference board similar to the top one I decided to make my own version. At first I made the bottom one because I thought it might be easier to have the clip on one side or he other rather than storing them somewhere else. I couldn't decide so I made them both and I will just make up my mind later. I actually made them for both of my classes so that's why it has my name at the top.

This last one is just a a simple folder with my copy code in vinyl for when we have parents come in and help with copies.

Now it's time to go check out everyone else's projects

 

 

Monday Made it: organization, management and communication

This is another project that I started a while ago and never finished. I made the metal background ages ago but never got around to doing the glass beads. The backing is just a pizza pan spray painted white with some scrapbook paper attached with spray glue and some thin ribbon to designate the sections.

The beads were so quick I can't believe believe I didn't do them sooner. I used a little circle punch (that seems to be 3/4 inch) to cut out scrapbook paper from scraps I had laying around. I wrote numbers on with a Sharpie marker. I put a drop of jewelry gel on the glass (because that's what I had on hand) and then stuck the numbers on and added a little more to the back. I let them dry for a while and then came back and glued on the 1/2 in magnets. In hindsight I wish I had picked a different scrapbook paper for the magnets since they sort of blend with the background but for now I'm satisfied.

I bought this plastic folder/clipboard at the Dollar Tree and then had to decide what I would do with it. I thought it would be perfect to take out when we do monthly drills. Once I get my new class lists I will put them in along with the red, yellow and green paper that we use for a visual signal to the grade chair that calls in on the radio.

 I did two little projects inspired by the linky last week. The bag organizer is just scrapbook paper with an added label from the computer. The drawers were created using a digital scrapbook background and some cute clipart in Print Shop.

My final project is actually electronic. For the past few years our school has paid to have TeacherWeb host all the classroom websites. This year we are all switching to Weebly because it's free and it is so much easier. I helped train our staff on using the new site and put together a few resource to assist them. Of course I spent so much time with everyone else that I really didn't get much done on my own until this week. I played around with the background and made some headers to fit the different pages. Here are a few of them.

Made It Monday

I'm so excited to be off for the summer and have time to indulge in little projects. This one has been hanging over my head for FOREVER. I actually bought most of the supplies last summer and then my husband burst my bubble by telling me that circle are way hard to cut. I had him ask one of his coworkers that makes furniture and that didn't work out. I also put out a plea to the parents at open house and in an email - nothing. I finally had to think about a work-around. Here it is...

I bought cake circle (which happened to be the perfect size) and glued two together with the corrugation perpendicular in case that make it more sturdy. 

Then I traced them on the foam I bought at JoAnn fabric and cut them out.

I cut the fabric into 6 equal pieces (which unfortunately was a little tighter than I would have liked on two sides). I used spray glue to attach the foam on one side and the fabric on the back. I originally was going to staple it but this seemed okay.

Next I I had to sand the plastic lids a bit to roughen them up so I could use some heavy duty glue to hook the cushions to the lids. I decided to use a paint brush so I could spread the glue a little since it is so thick. I went through two of the E 6000 tubes to make 6 stools.

Here is the final project. I have to say I'm so relieved to finally have this one done. Although I may actually add some ribbon but I haven't decided for sure. I just hope they hold up. I guess only time will tell.

I know I got the idea from somewhere but I didn't have any pictures pinned so I searched one out this evening. That's what made me think about ribbon.

Monday Made Its nearing an end

Here are a few things I made this past week. I'm back in school full swing so not much time for being crafty.

One of my kids favorite things this past week was trying on scuba equipment and getting their pictures taken in front of the green screen. I'm in the process of doing my photo work to put them in the ocean.

I also put ocean themed labels on the storage area that is available for the kids. I didn't use scrapbook paper becasue I wanted them to also see the contents.

 

The final this week was gluing ribbons on the kids writer's notebooks. I also did a mail merge to make labels for the front of each notebook. I should have done the ribbons last week before they decorated them so that we could have glued the colored paper on top of them but at least I finally got i to it.

I wanted to get a post up this weekend about my first week but I didn't quite get there. Hopefully I can put it together this evening.

A few Made Its for Monday

I have to say it felt weird not joining last weeks Made It Monday since I was away. Having been back less than a week and having already started school it is just a scattering of projects for this week. I have however finally gotten most of the last materials for my diver project. Hopefully I will have something put together for next week.

Here we go:

The first is table numbers. I actually made them for my six tables. The turquoise and dark blue fans alternate and the insides circles with the numbers were made to match the cute squirt fish I got in the Target dollar bins. If you would like the circles click here.

The next were some more banners. I included the jpg of the file because they are more clear than my actually photo.

 

Another little project was creating two more months of calendar headers because orginally I didn't bother since we aren't in school those months. Then I printed them small to use for my birthday board inspired by this pin from Erica Bohrer. I did it last year with a Hollywood theme.

 The final one to share this week is more practical. I like the idea of class journals and someone (but I have searched my boards and reader and can't figure out who) had the great idea for the kids to have some stickers with their class number to put on a class journal after they contribute. I made two sets (with different colors) for my two writing classes. Each child will get a strip of 10 stickers with their number.

That's it for now but I do still have a long to do list. Of course I have many less hours to craft now that I'm back at school but I'm sure I'll still get some more fun things done.
